Sermon for Easter Sunday 2020

Sermon for Easter Sunday 2020

Sermon given by Pastor Kathleen O’Keefe Reed on Easter Sunday, April 12, 2020 at University Lutheran Church. The gospel for the day was Matthew 28:1-10.

In this sermon, Pastor Reed cites the book Resurrecting Easter: How the West Lost and the East Kept the Original Easter Vision by John Dominic Crossan and Sarah Sexton Crossan, and describes the Easter banners painted by John Steczynski.

In this set of 10 banners, Jesus descends the stairs of Hell, surrounded by bandaged figures awakened from the dead.
