The Rev. Greg Mileski and the Rev. Imogene Stulken are serving as guest pastors for University Lutheran during Pastor Kathleen Reed’s sabbatical in summer 2019.
After having grown up in and around Pittsburgh, Greg graduated from the University of Pittsburgh and began teaching first grade in North Carolina as part of Teach For America. Three years later, he followed a long-time sense of calling and attended Trinity Lutheran Seminary in Columbus, Ohio. During seminary he began dating Jenny and the two were married in North Carolina before heading off to the southern shore of Lake Superior, where Greg had been called to serve in a parish in the snowy reaches of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. After four years of parish ministry, Greg realized that his love of studying, and learning from other religious traditions wasn’t going away, and so he and Jenny (plus Leo and Lena now!) headed off to Boulder, Colorado, where Greg received an M.A. studying Buddhist philosophies and religious ethics. He and his family have come to Boston so that he can pursue a Ph.D. from Boston College in comparative theology, where he is focusing on Buddhist and Christian conceptions of the person. When he’s not working, he… has forgotten what he likes to do, but there are a couple of old dusty pairs of hiking boots in the closet, so… maybe hiking?
