These directions will take you to the church (around which on-street parking is sometimes available on Sunday mornings), to the parking garage on the corner of Mount Auburn and Eliot streets, or to the metered lot underneath the Harvard Square Hotel. This Google map also has useful directions. From Outside Boston/CambridgeThe easiest way to reach Harvard Square from outside the city is to connect to Storrow Drive on the Boston side of the Charles River, or to Memorial Drive (also called Rts. 2 & 3) on the Cambridge side of the Charles River. Bear in mind that Memorial Drive, but not Storrow Drive, is closed to vehicles on summer Sundays. To reach Storrow or Memorial Drive:
From Memorial Drive or Storrow DriveTurn onto JFK St. (which becomes N. Harvard St. on the Boston/Brighton side of the Charles), then turn left onto Eliot St. for the garage or lot. Or, to look for on-street parking near the church, continue on JFK and turn right onto Mt. Auburn, right onto Holyoke, and right onto Winthrop. The church will be on your left. If no spaces are free, proceed on Winthrop across JFK to Eliot and turn left onto Eliot. At the traffic lights, continue on Eliot to the garage or go right onto Bennett for the lot. From Massachusetts Avenue coming from the north (Porter Square/Arlington)At Harvard Square, go to the right of the abstract sculpture and the news stand onto Eliot. Go left onto Mt. Auburn across JFK, then right onto Holyoke and right onto Winthrop to look for on-street parking. See above for continuing to garage or lot. Alternatively, continue on Eliot; at the traffic lights, continue on Eliot to the garage or go right onto Bennett for the lot. From Massachusetts Avenue/2A coming from the south (MIT/Boston)Turn left onto Dunster St. (just after the Au Bon Pain restaurant), left onto Mt. Auburn, right onto Holyoke, and right onto Winthrop to look for on-street parking. See above for continuing to garage or lot.
